Le succès ou la défaillance d’une place a des conséquences considérables sur les fortunes ou les malheurs du quartier et parfois même de l’ensemble de la ville dans lesquels elle se situe.
Une analyse multidimensionnelle et multidisciplinaire de l’espace public de la place est ainsi une composante essentielle de la démarche géographique visant à la compréhension du fonctionnement de l’espace urbain.
Elle est également une étape fondamentale de toute démarche d’urbanisme/aménagement visant à produire des préconisations pour le devenir de l’espace urbain.
Une promenade à travers les places de la ville de Nice, nous permettra de visualiser les résultats des analyses nécessaires à la compréhension de l’objet urbain très particulier qui est la place.
